This is one of the few remaining shops which have
been trading in Redcar for many years. Despite M&S being available
online, there is no substitute to being able to walk around a store,
with friendly and helpful staff, browsing the rails, having facilities
to try clothes on, and not having to pay a delivery fee and wait in for
days for a parcel to arrive...only to find that the items which looked
so good online are not suitable, and then having the trouble and expense
of returning them!
There are so few reasons to go into Redcar nowadays, branches of most
of the shops, banks etc, are also in nearby Guisborough, and the
parking there is free! I’m sure that M&S draws customers into Redcar
to the benefit of other stores too; it is an established part of
shopping in Redcar and should remain so for many years to come. Cheryl Anderson, Redcar

My mother and sister and her family leave near and use this store a lot.
When I organised my Mum's 90th birthday last year I was able to order
all the food and collect it from Redcar M&S. The service was great
the food lovely, the party a memory that has no price. Thank you M&S

REPOST - Celebrity Movie Treasures brings together a plethora of movie, 12th July Kirkleatham Museum, Redcar
Celebrity
Movie Treasures brings together a plethora of movie, television and
music memorabilia, normally kept locked away from public view, the
immediately recognisable items will be on show for all to see.
Remember that fabulous wedding dress Becky Granger wore on TV's Coronation Street? How about the coat worn in the Hollywood cult movie: Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey? Now you have the chance to see these and even more amazing artefacts.
Star attraction in the exhibition has to be Marilyn Monroe's Little Black Dress. Who knows what glittering Hollywood events she would have worn this to?
There is also the spectacular God of Mischief costume from the hilarious movie Son of the Mask, and the earrings once owned by Elizabeth Taylor. While for Sci-Fi fans there is the electro-magnetic boots from the hugely successful fi lm Face Off starring John Travolta and Nicholas Cage.
Fans of the golden days of Hollywood can see Fred Astaire's shoes and Doris Day's exquisite rhinestone bracelet.
Younger filmgoers might prefer the Austin Powers props, including a flaming orange shirt and a groovy baby go-go hat. Visitors of all ages will instantly recognise props from some of the most famous movies; from Titanic to The Flintstones and The Addams Family.
But it’s not just film fans that are in for a thrill. For music fans there are signed items by such stars as Chuck Berry and Oasis. There is even a Michael Jackson "Dangerous Tour" jacket.

Save Marks and Spencer, update and kind words from supporters
At time of writing we have 984 signatures on the petition, we are hoping this number keeps rising for obvious reasons. Worth mentioning that the petition is set so that every signature send a automatic Email to Marks and Spencer press office. Redcar Blog would like too thank everyone for taking the time to sign the signature and join in the discussion on the Facebook page, have included links to both below.

Here are some of the comments from the latest people to sign the signature, clearly demonstrating the level of local opposition to the closure of the Redcar Marks and Spencer store, with also signatures coming from outside Redcar:
This store is clearly important locally. M&S need to review their own business ethics; I will be reviewing my use of any M&S stores/products if this goes ahead. Daryl Williams, Kensington.
I grew up in Redcar and I feel this store has and is a major part of the community and its retail options. Claire Houghton, Oxfordshire.

Coast & Country open day at Westfield Farm
We are hosting an open day on Thursday 26th June and want to encourage all to attend.
We have a number of groups which people can be involved in and have a say in the way we shape the company.
Whilst membership of these groups is predominately for tenants, we do have other opportunities for people who don’t live in Coast & Country properties and would like to encourage everyone to attend.
There will be speeches from tenants who are currently involved with the company and information on other things we offer; such as free training courses, advice and guidance or volunteering opportunities.
Please feel free to share and let us know if you would like to come along!
