Big Mouth’s Summer Sizzler, Big Mouth Redcar: Friday 6 June, Coatham Memorial Hall. Doors: 7.30pm. Show: 8.30pm.
More top comedy capers in Redcar, Guisborough, Saltburn & Boro
Comedy fans
across Teesside and East Cleveland have a proper summer sizzler coming up, with
Big Mouth bringing more top comics to Redcar, Guisborough, Saltburn and
Middlesbrough on the first full weekend in June.
Familiar TV
faces Rob Deering and Eddy Brimson share headline duties at Big Mouth’s brand
new gigs at Redcar’s Coatham Memorial Hall and Guisborough Quoit Club on Friday
6 June.
And Saturday
7 June sees former Corrie Star John Warburton and Comedy Store favourite Roger
Monkhouse take the stage at Middlesbrough Town Hall Crypt and Saltburn’s Spa
Hotel.
Big Mouth
legend Matt Reed is special guest MC at Redcar and Middlesbrough – a hugely
welcome Redcar return for Matt after a storming gig just a few short weeks ago
- and hotly-tipped Boro comic Natalie Wicks joins the fun at Guisborough.
Carmel Ramsay
of Big Mouth Comedy said: “It’s another great weekend coming up here. Redcar
& Guisborough are in for a real treat on the Friday night. Rob Deering
shone out a mile on ITV’s Comedy Rocks with Jason Manford, and sharp-eyed
Eastenders fans might recognise Eddy Brimson as the man who torched Frank
Butcher’s car lot.
“But we know
them best as two of the best headliners up and down the land.
“Middlesbrough
& Saltburn are both going to be amazing gigs too. Corrie fans will know
John Warburton as Barry Sidwell but, again, we know him best as an amazing
comic. Expect bagfuls of cracking one-liners and plenty of glorious banter.
Same with Roger Monkhouse, a big favourite at London’s legendary Comedy Store,
who always goes down a storm wherever he plays.
“Comics just
love playing in this neck of the woods,” said Carmel. “They tell us we have the
best audiences anywhere, and we’re not going to argue with that.”

The Yorkshire Opera Workshop Presents Iolanthe, May 27-30 TunedIn, Redcar
The Yorkshire Opera Workshop is a new arts group in Teesside! It launched last year in Saltburn with a spirited production of Dido and Aeneas and Mushroom Pizza at the Saltburn Community Theatre.
Now,they return for a second season in 2014 with Iolanthe, a classic comic-opera by the famed Gilbert & Sullivan.
It follows the story of a band of fairies who find themselves entangled in a complicated story of love, marriage, and the House of Peers.
Fourteen young singers from across North America have travelled to Saltburn and Redcar to spend three weeks rehearsing and performing. Local baritone Jacob Ditchburn joins them as a member of the Lord’s Chorus.
Iolanthe will be performed at TunedIn in Redcar on May 27, 28, 29, and 30 at 7:00 pm. Tickets are £7 for adults, and £5 for students and seniors and can be purchased online at Eventbrite or at the door.

THE OPERA
Iolanthe (1882)by W.S. Gilbert and Sir Arthur Sullivan
This was the first of Gilbert and
Sullivan’s operettas to open at the Savoy Theatre. The story concerns a band of
immortal fairies who find themselves at odds with the House of Lords. The opera
satirises many aspects of British government and law and is as relevant and
funny today as it was in the Victorian era!
