Become a fire fighter for a week


Have you ever wanted to be a Fire Fighter! Would you like to be one for a week?
We can give you the chance to get out and gain experience and training, and challenge yourself with something new, The Fire Team programme.

Routes to Employment are now recruiting for the next Fire Team, starting week commencing 2nd June 2014, (The course will run Monday - Friday 9.00am – 3.30pm.)

The course is very popular and places are going fast so if you are interested, you must contact us soon to avoid missing out on this fantastic opportunity.

During the programme attendees will:
• Learn basic Fire Service skills such as
- Communication
- Teamwork
- Hose handling
- Problem solving
- Working at heights
- Fire behaviour and science
- Fire extinguishing
- First Aid
• Examine the consequences of Anti-Social Behaviour
• Assess the effects on communities and services
• Understand the dangers of driving under the influence of various substances
• Attain a national qualification recognised within the job market.

Through these activities and sessions we aim to raise self-esteem, employment possibilities, and levels of respect for the community and emergency services. All the activities and sessions are designed to encourage openness, honesty, questions, and be both physically and emotionally challenging. Your family and friends will be invited to attend a passing out parade on the Friday where you will receive your certificate of achievement for completing this course.

Please note that in order to be eligible for this course you MUST BE:
Unemployed, aged 19+ and be a Redcar & Cleveland Resident.
