While sea defense work was being carried out along Redcar Seafront another
great race was held in 2013. We were again blessed with a flat calm
sea and bright sunshine. The road had been re-surfaced to racetrack
standard and large crowds again supported the athletes. This really
is an exciting little race with a big race feel. Fast and flat with
a multi-lap format that makes it great to watch. Places are limited
          to 200.
The race will be based on Redcar Esplanade
right in the heart of the town. The aims are to make this a great race
for the competitors and also a spectacular event for the town and it's
          midsummer visitors to enjoy.
The start will be on the beach at low
tide (slightly higher than last year, so less running in shallow water)
in an area naturally protected by Redcar Scars.
The transition area
will be on the seafront adjacent to the new vertical.
The bike course
is all on closed roads along The Seafront between the Shoreline roundabout
and Majuba Road. It will comprise 6 laps making a total distance of
20k. It's all flat with plenty of opportunity for the fast guys to get
up a good head of steam.
The run will be 1 5k lap east from the
transition area area along the seafront to the turn point just beyond
the junction with Green Lane. Then retrace, more or less, to the finish.
          (provisional)
The event is aimed at all abilities.
Our ethos is very much about the personal challenge of triathlon for
real world people as well as providing competition in a professionally
organised event for those that want it.
